High Impact Lift Truck Safety
Statistics from the OSHA or Occupational Safety and Health Administration show that nearly all of the forklift mishaps happen from the failure of people following correct safety features. A person from the drivers, co-employees and pedestrians must be aware and make sure these situations are avoided. Fortunately, there are actually many ways to solve these problems.
Inspection
Even if a high impact lift truck is a durable and tough equipment, capable of withstanding a few knocks during its shift, it is absolutely not indestructible by any means. At the beginning of every shift, the user must check the usability and cleanliness of the machine. If something out of the ordinary must happen, the operator should immediately alert their supervisor. Inspections on a daily basis are necessary to be done at the beginning or end of each shift so as to make sure that the forklift is in optimum working condition.
Training
Lift truck training is a necessary and vital measure which needs to be undertaken for the safety of the driver and their fellow co-workers. Training is offered so as to teach the lift truck employees how to correctly inspect the machine, how to respond to emergency situations and also how to deal with stability problems. A lot of businesses offer lift truck training. Upon successful completion of the program, certification and a license would be offered as proof of passing the training.
Exhaustion
The lift truck is a huge industrial equipment, it should never be operated by drivers who may be unfocused or really tired. Accidents happening from fatigue are unfortunately a common experience. These errors can be easily avoided if the worker just admits that they are not capable of driving the forklift when they are really feeling that way.
During the 1990's, Kalmar made the biggest lift trucks on the market today. These equipment were rated with a remarkable 90-tonne capacity. The fact is, Kalmar earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records. Today, there are a variety of lift truck manufacturers making and designing large lift trucks.
