Clark Counterbalance Forklifts Long Beach

The forklift is a material handling device utilized to raise and move loads from one place to another. Each and every forklift part has a specific function. Various parts could be used to move the load either vertically or horizontally.



Mast

The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are various types of masts used for lifting loads to different heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.



Power Supply

There are four different ways you could power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.



Cab

Located in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated within the cab.



Frame

Carrying all the largest forklift components is the truck frame. This consists of the counterweights situated at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
