Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and therefore, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the demand for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For example, Genie went into production with articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, telehandlers and stick booms.
Because of the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy equipment are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the equipment needs to be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These machinery are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the work site and job area.
