How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine has to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, models which are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
