Types of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are some aisle widths to consider with different models.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks operate in less than 6 feet places and often use certain guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are common models in compact retail areas and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are usually utilized within storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is made to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and thus more productive while limiting exhaustion.
