Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are one of the most commonly used kinds of crane within the construction industry. They are used to make everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to skyscrapers and buildings.
There is a huge variety of crane models, styles and sizes available on the market. There are a lot of different kinds in order to serve a variety of different purposes within the industry. Choosing the right kind of crane is really essential for making sure that the material could be transported efficiently and safely to the place it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Typically, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are extremely helpful for building locations where a crane is needed in numerous different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane could be driven easily from one location to another.
Furthermore, the cranes can be transported to different construction sites on the road as they could drive themselves and this eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Thus, in order to fix this problem, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has large tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are really like bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction locations successfully.
