Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
